  • Shred Party At The Roxy - Coal Chamber, System Of A Down

System Of A Down blasted out of seemingly nowhere to recently make a huge splash on our scene they fit right into the scene with their harshly aggressive, extremely heavy sound.  But they also offer special and unique ingredients that make them stand out from the pack.  Particularly noteworthy is System Of A Down's vocalist, whose amazing array of distortions and effects make his growling vocals sound otherworldly, even downright spooky!  With tons of intensity, his distinctive singing/rapping style is the highlights of System Of A Down's exceptional sound.
System Of A Down kicks some very adventurous elements into their hard contemporary style.  "Suitepee" [sic] (with a special guest on ferocious growls) and "P.L.U.C.K." are stirring straight-forward heavy rockers.  But System also offers "Sugar", which brings in an unusual and very pleasing jazz feel, and "Soil", which climaxes with an eerie Mid-Eastern style guitar solo.  Though eminently moshable, System Of A Down's music is also complex, textured, and extremely creative.  This very entertaining set illustrated why System Of A Down has easily become an overnight sensation.
